Rachel sees this as a betrayal much like one of a married couple, Monica says ‘It didn’t mean anything to me, I was thinking of you the whole time, I never meant for you to find out!’ It seems to show how marital relationships would respond to an act similar and shows how the gender roles play a part in a lot of the scenes between the characters.Įven though the women characters are strong and independent they still have a stereotypical feminine side. They have a seemingly stereotypical woman relationship, however in one scene during ‘The One With The Breast Milk’, a situation much like ones that face Joey and Chandler occurred where Monica is caught ‘cheating’ on Rachel with Ross’s new girlfriend Julie where they went shopping together and had lunch.
Monica and Rachel’s relationship grew as the seasons went on from them being best friends at high school then reuniting on Rachel’s wedding day.
